Default Automatic Headlights

I drove my "24 STX the other night for first time after dark. Something just didn't jive when I would dim the lights for approaching cars. There was 3 different indicators on the dash that came up every time I flipped the turn signal arm, to dim the lights. I couldn't seen clearly because I'm an old fart with old eyes so I finally asked my wife, who can still see, to describe the white indicator.. She said it had a capital A in the middle. Long story short, I left it on and it automatically dimmed for approaching vehicles and worked very well. I was very surprised that that the low trim STX had this feature. Thanks Ford!

It's a nice feature. Evidently on lower level cars as well...a coworker recently had a rental Ford (not sure of model) that had this feature, first time he'd ever experienced it.

I currently have them on my F-150 and my Bronco Sport. I have also had them on a couple of Fords that I previously owned. They have all worked very well and I have not had a single issue with any of them.

I have this feature turned off in my truck but might give them a try.

With our 2023 Subaru legacy, every road sign or reflection seemed to turn off the high beams and I hated it.

So as soon as I got my 2025 F150 , I made sure that was off. Maybe the ford version is better, so I’ might give it a chance.

The only time I have an issue with mine is when there is condensation on the window in front of the sensor, but otherwise no problems at all.

I usually don't use my auto function.

I still wish the switch was on the floor by your left foot.

Auto Dim has been around for more than 35 years or longer.
On my 1990 Lincoln LSC.
I built a Cadmium Light Sensor, into my 58 Chev in 1962
Sensor and Light gathering Lens in a small box on the Dash tripping a relay.
Good luck.

My first car was a 1969 Cadillac. It had auto dimming lights.

It also had a 472 4V and a huge trunk. It would hold 4 big bags of decoys, 4 pairs of waders and 4 shotguns. We hunted in style in that car as teenagers.

I have the feature turned off on my truck. It doesn't work well on roads that have a lot of curves or hills turning off when it sees traffic across a valley, turning on once I drop below the crest and turning off once the opposing vehicle drops below its crest. On manual I know better than to use the brights since they will be turned off within a few seconds.

I have this feature on my 2023 Lariat along with my two other daily drivers. Personally, I like the feature you just have to keep an eye on it to make sure it changes to oncoming traffic. Sometimes I have to do it manually.
