Default Auto wiper settings

Hi,
I have a 2021 PB Lariat high. It has the automatic rain sensing wipers. What is causing me a problem is that the wipers will do a one-time cycle when I start the truck even if it is completely dry. So the scenario is that I am driving in a rain storm. The wipers are on. The rain stops, so the wipers stop, even though they are still technically on. I park the truck but don't remember to turn the wipers off. It gets windy. Dust, pine needles, etc. land on the windshield. Then I start the truck some time later when its not raining and the wipers smear the wind-deposited debris all over the windshield.

First question is whether the one-time wipe cycle when starting the truck is normal (regardless of whether there is rain on the windshield). Second question is, if it is normal, whether there is a way to make it not happen (aside from remembering to turn the wipers off every time). Seems like the auto rain sensing wipers should not wipe when there is no rain. By "make it not happen" I am thinking a setting change on the vehicle or a Forscan edit.

Thanks

I would also like to know how to disable the one wipe. I cringe every time thinking about the possible scratching of the windshield

As far as I know, the only way to make sure it doesn't happen is to keep the wipers off. It happens randomly to some people, others it never happens, some it happens every time. I haven't seen any way to prevent it or pattern that would trigger it either.

That’s my strategy as well. I leave them off until needed and then turn them on and let them determine speed and frequency of the wipes. This avoids the smearing wipes you can get when left on all the time.

Welcome to the club. My windows can be completely clean and once i start up I get the wipe. It's not normal to me. This is the third truck I've owned 15', 18', and the rain sensing wipers suck on my 22. Courtesy wipe is after you wash the windows it wipes after a few seconds. I'm really disappointed with the wiping system that I keep them off until it rains. They ghost wipe all the time just driving around in dry weather, but when it rains, they work ok. Just a nuisance.

My previous truck was a 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie and it also did the ghost wipe when starting up the truck IF I left the wiper stalk in the auto position. The RAM and F150 auto wipers work the same way, just turn it forward to activate. Anyway, my theory with the ghost wipe is that dust collects in front of the sensor and it thinks it's water and wipes it. Makes a mess. I've also had bugs hit and it thinks it's raining and wipes. Makes a mess. So I keep the switch in the off position too, unless it's raining. It's a fancier intermittent wiper system then.

You definitely don't want the courtesy wipe, if you have ice on the glass.

I thought Courtesy Wipe was for when using the cleaning mode, where it would clean, then after a few seconds do another wipe to get the drips?

You might be right, I thought it was to do a wipe on start up but I very well could be wrong.
