I'm looking at the shorty antennas like the bullet or whatever. I know alot of people say they lose some reception when they go shorty but I don't listen to the fm radio all I listen to is suriusxm. Isn't the antenna for siriusxm different than the fm antenna. I don't care if I lose fm signal but don't wanna lose xm.
Yes the XM antenna is different. If you ever need to go into a Multi storey parking garage, you’ll appreciate the stock antenna. It’s a warning the roof is too low
I thought it was. My last truck had a fin type on top but I do t believe my f150 has one. Well it does have those 2 black squares on top back maybe thats it. Where is it located do you know.
I thought of that but I live in a little country bumpkin town we barely have parking lots much less parking garages. Lol

I believe the XM antenna is one of the two on the roof.
I cut the factory antenna down and made my own shorty…I’ve noticed no difference in radio reception although I predominantly use XM. I pulled the rubber cap off the tip, cut it right above the lower flare, and put the tip back on. Not the greatest picture but you get the idea…

I did t think of that. That looks pretty good. Save money that way too
I bought one from Amazon, maybe 6-7 inches and labeled as "car wash friendly", which was my primary concern with the ridiculously long factory one. I'm overly meticulous with stuff like this and actually scanned the full range of channels, writing them down for comparison. My short antenna picked up one more channel than the long one, not sure how that happened, but I definitely don't feel like I lost any performance.
