Default Antenna question

Took my wife’s Escape to the dealer on Tuesday and as I was leaving I checked out a couple of 22’s sitting on the lot and the antennas seemed a little shorter and were mounted a little differently! It looked like they might have garage clearance now! Is this true?

This photo still looks like it extends quite a bit above the cab:

Yea my 22 hd garage clearance. I had a rydonair antenna already so I switched it anyways. It’s actually stiffer than the stock one.

Thats the problem now. Stock one clears, but on the X-way it bends in the wind..

I haven’t got around to measuring yet, but the antenna on my truck is definitely shorter than my ‘15s was. It looks to me like it is just barely taller than back of the cab, and it does not hit my garage door like my old truck used to.

I can’t believe they still have these!! Every other truck brand has figured out how to integrate them. But… I also hardly listen to the radio so I put a 12 inch stubby on. Still gets respectable reception and looks way better.

I have a January 2021 which had the long 32" antenna. Would always scrape at one of our covered parking lots. I don't like the stubby look so went with antenna Ford puts on the newer trucks. 27", still higher than the cab but no more rub and serves as a warning if I am getting close to hitting something with the cab. Bought from Fairway Ford:

Part Number Part Name Price
MCPZ-18813-A Aerial Without Cable. $25.27

My thoughts exactly. I was really pleased to find out that I didn’t need to replace or shorten my antenna, yet still had a low clearance warning system.

Definitely shorter than previous ones; does not touch my garage door

Swapped out the stock antenna on my 2017 302A with the MCPZ-18813-A antenna. It fits well, does not hit the garage door frame and reception seems to be unaffected. The threaded base has a hard rubber boot that seals around the stock base receptacle on the fender.

I did the same. Perfect height for me. No more rubbing in the parking structure at work but serves as a waning when my cab is getting close to hitting something.
