Amp power step install question
I have searched and searched, but found nothing. I am hoping a friend can help out. I ordered amp power running boards for 2020 f150 after seeing someone installed them from their 2020 to their new 2021.
I got them installed and plugged the odb2 plug into the port but do not work. I disconnected the odb2 adapter and tried them by grounding the deploy wire to a ground bolt and they deployed. And vice versa they retracted.
my question is, is there a negative wire I can tap into for when the doors are open and closed to activate the boards? I am wondering which wires are on the odb2 connector that would activate the boards that AMP was using by the adapter, so I could possibly eliminate that adapter all together.
thank you very much for your help.

Sorry I saw your thread too late, I installed my Amp boards from my traded 2016 Lariat on my Tremor. Had to order the different OBD2 plug for the 2021 and newer F150, only difference. It was $110 shipped.
I had a 19 stx with the xl series that i removed before trading it in and installed them on my 23 xlt but arent deploying. Do you have the link to order the updated obd2 connector to make them work?
Sorry don't have the website now. Call Amp, You can get the info you need from Amp Research. They'll direct you to the website that sells replacement parts for Amp. Price seemed high for what the part is, if I'm recalling correctly it was about $100. Also pay close attention to the extra wire you select, don't remember the color but I believe there are 2 wires that are close to the same color
I am going through the same exact issue. Can you tell me where you ordered the plug from? I can’t find it anywhere
