Default Air dam damaged?

I got message on dash saying air dam error. Dealership picked it up is telling me $1800 because it was damaged. How would one of these be damaged? He said it behind front bumper.

Rock kicked up and hit it probably. Did you ask them?

I told them I want part back, service just called me back to tell me they are keeping truck overnight and he is going to show part to service mgr to make sure this is not something they can warranty. I would think rock hitting it would be normal wear and tear.

A friend of mine has a '23 and his failed, but it was one of the actuators. It was replaced under warranty. If it was physically damaged by an outside source, the repair is on you. I get a fault message occasionally on mine and it still functions fine as far as I know. For 1800 dollars, if mine actually fails, I'm throwing it in the garbage without a second thought. Lots of folks just remove them with no error message and I've read fuel economy is nearly unaffected.

Normal wear and tear would not be covered by warranty. Like tires and brakes. Unless you have a bumper to bumper.

Like lots of people, I took mine off before it could be damaged, especially on rough dirt tracks (and most especially when crossing steep gullies). I am happy to pay the 0.5 mpg penalty (if that).

I guess someday I could sell it, or put it back on for the next owner.

Remove it and forget about it.

Delete it and put a tremor skid plate on it. That’s what I did when mine was damaged.

Ditto, took mine off as soon as I bought it.
