Default Adding LED taillight to XLT

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has tried to buy LED taillights for the lariat and put them on the 2021 XLT 302A Package ?

would it be plug in play or would it need some kind of heat sink in the middle ?

I did this with a Silverado LT before. Never with a Ford.

My guess would be, the harness, couplers & pinouts will be different, so a light swap would require some harness mods most likely.

My xlt 302a has LED HL but halogen taillights. Should I be worried about them? I don't understand why replace them unless they burn out.

Some people just like the look. There's nothing wrong with the incandescent ones, just personal preference.

I found a plug and play harness for the halogen to LED conversion. It’s pretty darn expensive at $275. Might bust out the soldering iron at home and start selling some of these myself.

$275 for harness plus the cost of parts will go with the good old halogen brake / taillights in the present 302a.

My spouses 19 Escape is still on the OEM halogen brake / taillights, and have had a 18 502a lariat, 19 701a Platinum and now back to a 302a XLT with halogen brake / taillights.

Personally don't care about anything other than the person behind myself seeing a DOT APPROVED brake light. In today's legal world the installation of NON OEM or aftermarket assemblies may just be another good way to blame you for being the cause for starting the accident. This would be my first question to anyone evolved investigating a accident.

If you want a less expensive alternative buy two sets of these:

It is a much brighter light than the standard halogens

Also the front XLT turn signal bulbs are halogen as well. But you can buy a set of these.

Not sure why Ford went 1/2 way on the XLT with LED's.
