Default 5.0 Coil Issues??

Anyone experience any Coil issues on their 5.0s?? As in going bad and shutting down the pickup on the side of the road, and finding the bad coil had shorted out a fuse?

Are you using factory spark plugs? A plug with the wrong impedance could cause that. Is it always the same coil pack that goes bad?

Factory plugs. 32,000 miles. Apparently, this same issue happened at the 20,000 mark, according to the Ford Service computer system. The previous owner brought it in for the same thing. I purchased the truck with 21,000 miles back in December.
Current mechanic, at my dealership, is going to replace all 8 coils and see what happens.
This matter was first thought to be a wiring harness issue to the fuel pump. But, it was finally found to be this issue. I'm not sure if I want to buy an extended warranty or trade the truck in on something else. The warranty won't cover the irritation of being broke down on the side of the road again. This just sucks. When it went down, it WENT DOWN, and I had to have it towed.

I would strongly recommend replacing all plugs at the same time as the coils, just to rule out the possibility you have a bad plug. That is really odd, but if all that does not fix the issue, you're probably dealing with a wiring issue (not fun).

Thank you. I wish I knew the previous owner, so I could ask him/her what they knew. The truck still looked Brand New when I bought it. Makes one wonder....

I also own a 2015 F150, 5.0. No issues with it at 191,000 miles.

All the coils don't die at the same time!
All the plugs don't die at the same time.
You have some other issue.

Not sure what you mean. I believe it was just one coil that went bad, but the mechanic is just going to change out all the coils, given the previous service history. I agreed with him. I'm just gonna keep my fingers crossed that he is right.
I'll take extra prayers.....

On the positive side, my dealer will sell me the Premium Care Ford Ext. Warranty for $1800 to 100,000 miles. $2300 to 125,000 miles. I don't think that is too bad. But, as I said, the being down on the side of the road is always the worst part.

I'm saying one coil does not shut down the whole system.
If it blows a fuse, the question is, is it the filter cap in the line to keep coil interference to a min or a short in the harness that is being missed?.
The service the last owner got did not find the cause, now you have it.
Think maybe there is a connection?
.
These 5L are not known for coil failure that I have ever observed.
That is the basis of my position.
2018, 74k, no coil or plug failures.
Good luck.

Ignition Transformer Capacitor

That's what they finally narrowed it down to and will replace that.
