Default 24 power boost ordered.

So I can’t settle on a 23 150 on the lots after a deer took out my 22 custom ordered lariat. So decided 8 am building a 24 and waiting on it.. I went with the black appearance package lariat in attamatter blue , and the power boost 7.2. I am starting to second guess my engine choose after reading all the negative on these motors in the power boost forum where they are not safe to drive as to when they just go into limp mode while in highway speeds and shut off or the 12volt battery draining. Was a v8 guy till the eco boost changed my mind to go turbo.I am hoping they fixed all these issues on the powerboost in 24. Looking for any positive or negatives on these power boosts

That’s exactly why I just placed an order for 2024 with the V8. I wanted to go with the power boost so bad but didn’t want to worry about anything that could go wrong.

i have a '22 502A with the 2.7 when i looked and drove the different engines.. i really could not tell a big differerence.. i wanted high mpg.. and decent hp in high altitudes. If i had done the powerboost i'd have never gotten it back in gas savings.. and state sales tax and higher insurance. i just think if truck is so complicated.. it might get through warranty ok.. but you get 6 or 7 years on it and it is going to have more problems than just a turbo charged ICE and that is enough for me. These trucks are way more buckeroos than trading every 3 years anymore either justifies. i get 24 mpg pretty easy.

With that extra $10k in your pocket.. use those ford credit card points from your purchase and spend another $1k and do the ford protect for 6 years or so.

It seems if you are one of the Powerboost owners with problems, the dealers are often not able to figure it out.

Wife has her suv, and I have my truck. We dont want to own other vehicles, so reliability is important to me. In 2021 I only considered the 2.7 or 3.3. Now my top choice is the 2.7. If I found a truck on the lot with the 5.0 I would be ok with that too.
Jumping up to a Lariat would have me in the 5.0 for payload reasons.

Got the build date already guess I am all in on this power boost ready for a change of the regular eco boost I guess. Excited and nervous all in the same. I have been super lucky with all the f150 I have owned 5 in all. Only problem I had on all was my 22 taking out a deer in pa at 65 mph which definitely sucked cause I loved that truck only had 11000 miles on it and totaled because wire harness was 8-16 months backorder.

When’s your build date? The truck actuallly looks better than I would have expected after a hit like that.

I have 2 powerboost trucks sitting in my driveway right now. A 2021 and a 2023. The 2021 (24000 miles) has been flawless with several long trips taken in it. I have only driven the 2023 1500 miles and beyond the quality issues I see on the truck (tailgate doesn't line up right, the plastic piece where the windshield wipers are not sitting flat at the edges and the plastic around the steering wheel where the turn signal is does not line up) it has driven and been even nicer ride then my 2021. But if we only bought trucks based on what we see on the internet forums we all would be waking to work.

I have a '23 PB with ~ 11K miles coming up on a year of ownership- so I can't speak to any long term problems- but mine has been flawless to this point. You should be comforted that many of the early issues (Max Tow bolt shear (not unique to PB), Exhaust Heat Exchanger Issues, SSN/BMS issues (Stop Safely Now/Battery Management System), and balky Transmissions (Mostly '21's until software corrections came online) have been mostly mitigated/reduced- or at least much better understood. I don't know anything about "they are not safe to drive as to when they just go into limp mode while in highway speeds"; I assume you may be referring to the SSN issue- but 99% of those are folks who can't get their PB to start- not an issue while in motion....I actually haven't seen anyone reporting that? Ford just issued a TSB for the SSN issue- and even if it's unlikely to cure all iterations of the problem- Ford is at least aware of it now.

The unbelievable low end torque and smooth (almost completely imperceptible) transition from ICE to electric is really an engineering marvel that I was skeptical about before driving this truck. I can accelerate with authority and the engine never reaches 3k RPM. Combine that with a consistent 22 mpg (you'll do 1-2 MPG better on the stock Hankooks), the 7.2 kW PPOB utility- and the ability to idle the truck (when working or just waiting for the wife and/or kids) in 90 degree temps without the engine running (electric HVAC for the win) are all unique to the PB platform.

Your optioned truck sounds awesome- and I think you should feel much better ordering the PB in it's 4th year than maybe some of the unlucky few in years past. Ford is committed to this platform; it's why they are offering the PB option as a free upgrade. You're gonna love this thing....

The quality is horrible I’m can attest to that. The truck above after 8 months finally had the paint blemishes or fish eyes in clear fixed and fixed doors where not aligned after going round and round with dealer and ford. It’s was finally nice and bam a deer over a guard rail lands in front of truck with 5 feet t9 stop at 65 mph.
