Default 21 Add ons

Hey everyone, just traded in my 18 XLT sport for a 21 Lariat, I've got a couple things I'd like to tweak, see what you all think

One thing I'd really like to do it take the standard mirrors off and put the max tow package mirrors on. My old mirrors had 2 mirrors in 1, this 21 is just 1 flat mirror. I tow a trailer every day, more mirror is better, and I really like the looks of the max tow mirrors. Can a guy get them and install them without a lot of hassle or not worth it? This truck has the mirrors that fold in with a push of a button, if that matters.

Second it's got no trailer brake controller, could a guy get the factory controller and install it? I'm guessing maybe there's a programming thing to be done to make it come up on the gauge cluster if it were possible. Otherwise is there a brake controller plug hid behind the dash somewhere?

I know it would have been better to find a truck with the max tow package but this dealer was giving me a sweet deal on my 18 and this is all they had in a 5.0 on their lot.

The 21 has heated/cooled seats, if I got seat covers, will they work with the cooled seats? I know the heated part did work in my 18. I'm a little worried about these seat getting damage so though I'd put a cover on them now.

Thanks in advance.

Following.

i want to to the exact same with my mirrors. Was easy to find aftermarket mirrors that were plug and play for my 18 XLT, but having a real difficult time with the 21. It only took me 5 min per side on the 18 and would expect it to be similar for the 21.

The tow mirrors are as easy to install as the 13th gen. I have the 360 cameras and installed mine in about 15 minutes. Fairway Ford sells 14th gen mirrors including the power fold cheaper than other dealers. They even sell a kit to add power fold to trucks that don't have them that includes the door switch plate with the power fold switch installed.
BTW. They are not MaxTow Mirrors because they aren't included on the MaxTow package. They are optional on all F150s

I see I can buy the right mirrors from Fords website...for $2000. Yeah maybe I'll just stick with what I've got lol.

These are the ones that upgrade non powerfold trucks. I'm sure they also sell just the powerfold in a kit.

Regarding the ITBC (Integrated Trailer Brake Controller) go with the Ford OEM which dealer installed includes the programming, my installation was $499.95 with Ford Points $312.23 back in July of this year. The aftermarket seat covers may interfere with the seat ventilation (cooling).

I was looking into the OEM controller on Fords website and didn't think the price of it was too bad, so I'll probably get a hold of the dealership next week to get one.

Adding the Brake Controller is easy, just a Forscan thing. The parts are best bought on-line. Shop around.

As far the mirrors go....I had the same thoughts as you but I bet if you give those mirrors a few weeks, you'll see they are more than adequate. The cost versus benefit of the mirrors just doesn't work out for most pocketbooks.

If you are towing a lot, the best thing you can buy is the best set of tires you can afford...even overspend when it comes to tires. The quality of the ride, the ability to break and control loads is crucial.
