Is the Pro Access Tailgate missing from the build and price?

Such a bummer the HDPP is no longer an option.

One of our two F150's is a 2018 HDPP, 3.5 eco. It's a daily driver and weekend puller for our gooseneck pulling two horses and weekender package. It's ideal because it gets great fuel economy day to day and has excellent towing capability when we want to do some pulling. It's low to the ground which works well with our older model trailer as newer Superduty's are just too tall.

I'm sure Ford didn't sell a ton, and most were probably special order. I would imagine though many F150 owners are towing campers / trailers that are maxed out in payload or capacity in general and should have been in a HDPP.

We found ours second hand two years old with 24,000 miles. Now have 124,000. Not sure what to jump to next or if we will be on the lookout for a 2023 HDPP in a year or two.

And I doubt hardly any of them even know it or care.

I'm hoping for the best. My '19 has 75k miles on it, used almost every day for towing equipment. It has been great, and would love to buy a new one within the next year or two. I hope Ford pulls through. I don't want an F250!

Sad to see the Titan go. I never liked the current generation but the first generation was pretty dang appealing when it first came out.
Actually they don’t sell because they have stupid restrictions on what you can buy. The Titan XD failed because the 5.0 Cummins wasn’t very good and it reduced payload to less than 2k, usually 1700 on a well optioned truck. So a regular F-150 had better payload. So you were stuck with the poor 5.6 gas engine to get payload over 2k.

The F-150 HDPP didn’t sell because you couldn’t get it in the higher trims that needed the payload. I would still buy an F-150 Lariat 502A (or whatever the package is now) with a 3.0 Diesel and HDPP. With 2100-2200 lbs of payload and a 4800 rear axle. But nope.

But sure let everyone get the tremor package on a SuperDuty regardless of the options. That’s how you sell something. Offer the package and if you think it’s rare then let us order it. It sucks for those in the fringe zone. I don’t need a superduty but am overloaded in an F150. Most people in my position just overload their F150 and add airbags.

Ford had HDPP long enough to determine it didn't generate enough profit to justify offering the option. In business it costs money to offer an option.

If you are overloaded in an F150 then you actually do need a Superduty. Airbags are a band-aid but you probably already know that.

CAFE likely plays a role as well. HDPPs affect the fleet average, right? It would be nice if the formula took payload into account, because if you're actually using the capacity even part of the time, one HDPP is more fuel efficient than two normal F-150s.

Today I was browsing over the 2024 Towing Guide. It's interesting that now with the 3.5 ecoboost, in order to get the most GCWR and towing capability, you need to get the 3.55 axle ratio. Going from the 3.55 to 3.73 actually reduces the GCWR from 19,400# to 17,100# (crew cab 4x4 6.5 bed). Additionally, you cant even get the 3.5 eco crew cab with 6.5 bed with the 3.73. It forces you to go with the 5.0. It appears the integrated brake controller is only available in the "tow package" which again forces you to get the 3.55 axle ratio.
