Looks like the 2 new colors for '23 xlt are Avalanche and area 51 and I could probably be satisfied with those. Saw the "heritage" news but was not that interested. Can someone provide good pictures of these 2 colors ? Sure wish they had a tan like Toyota, GM etc. Can't believe Ford still doesn't have a tan when it was there top selling color other than wht for decades.

 

Area 51 is available on Maverick and Bronco Sport. Avalanche is available on Ranger. You can google them and get lots of pictures.

 

Ewwww, That Area 51 color is disgusting. Shame on anyone who buys a full-sized truck in that color.

The Area 51 is quite popular for the Maverick and those pastel colors have been gaining a ton of popularity in general when offered. They wont reach the percentage take rate of white, silver and black but good on Ford for realizing that some people enjoy colors.

 

2017 Raptor was available in Avalanche, great color on the Raptor.

 

Colors are fine. Area 51 itself is dull/bland/ugly all at the same time.

 

I knew a guy, big rugged biker type, who years ago spec’d out a heavy duty truck, don’t recall the brand. He had a wide selection of colors for the special order, and when the salesman showed him the list, he picked amethyst.

That evening, he told his girlfriend “ordered the truck today.”

she asked what color?

”Amethyst”

She said, “Amethyst? AMETHYST?? You ordered a purple truck??”

He said “Purple? I thought amethyst was kind of a deep black?”

I think he was too embarrassed to tell the salesguy he had screwed up and to try and change it. They drove that purple truck for many years. But I always wondered about the conversation after he left - “Did you see that big dude that was just in? He ordered a truck - in purple!”

 

1. where you getting this info? 2. Are you saying this starts with the XLT, is only on the XLT or other trims levels are getting it too?

I don't think it's a bad color at all. I would defintely get that before smoked quartz...lol.
