2023 Bed Utility Package?
Just curious...I noticed on the 2023 F-150 Price List there are two separate Bed Utility Packages listed with the more expensive one titled "Bed Utility Package - Premium". Any idea what makes the Premium worth $900 vs the regular's $600?. Could it be spray-in bed liner?
Look at the companion Order Guide - just as in 2022 the Bed Utility Package for Lariat and higher trims includes the full-powered tailgate (completely open/close using a motor in the tailgate and control on keyfob or in-cabin button), that's the "premium" version of the package and you have no other choice on those higher trims, nor can you get the "premium' version on the lower trims.
Bed Utility Package for all trim levels includes the tailgate step, it's the only way to get that in 2022 & 2023 (tailgate step was available as a stand-alone item in 2021 and prior).
The Order Guide is always the best place to see option / bundling detail which helps explain a lot of the mysteries on the price lists; it's very hard to fully understand the latter without reference to the former.

the only way to get the led bed lighting is to buy the utility package. led lighting used to be a stand alone item for under $100.00 I personally had no use for a tailgate work surface(especially for the price) and I definitely did not want the tailgate step (most people have trouble with the trim coming off at the step when they slide something in the bed. I added the led bed lighting using the starkey lighting kit
My working truck with tailgate step is very often loaded by sliding over-length and / or heavy lumber and sheet-goods into the bed without any hint of trim issues whatsoever (noting that the tailgate-surface and bed-surface are both a fraction of an inch higher than the trim at the step to prevent contact with the trim piece as things are slid into the bed). I also frequently slide over-length items into the bed then lift them to raise the tailgate so they rest at an angle on the forward edge of the tailgate while transporting, again with no problems / trim damage.
The tailgate step may not be for everyone, no worries, but for many of us it's a welcome, robust, and perfectly functional option.

Tailgate step is useless when a trailer is connected that is why I installed a bumper amp step. I have seen posts on the super duty forum about the trim getting ruined and seen a few trucks at my job that have had the same problem but they are older without the work platform, maybe that makes a difference
