Default 2022 transmission problems

Just bought a brand new 3.3L XL 10speed 3.5 days ago. I noticed that it shifts kinda hard, but I read the adaptive process takes some time. Well, it has since gotten worse, it clunks, it jerks into first sometimes, hesitates, got stuck in 3rd gear and made a terrible KKKKCCHHHKKK sound when it shifted. It has 200 miles on it. Mind you I'm baby driving this thing.

I'm reading a ton of horror stories. Should I even ask? Are there any legit fixes? Is this the start of something terrible?

I don't know about all 2022's but my PowerBoost transmission is very smooth shifting, which really surprised me since I had been driving a 2019 with the 10R80 ten speed that was quite rough shifting in lower gears. My dealer told me the 2019 shifting was normal and wouldn't do anything until it actually threw codes and then they replaced the main control valve assembly on it...twice. Even so, it never did give up the harsh shifting. That's one of the reasons that made me want to get rid of it.

Hi there! I can look into your F-150's noise concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your F-150’s VIN?

I am unable to PM you, probably because I am a new member. Is there another way to send you correspondence?

These trucks have adaptive learning and it can take awhile for it to learn your driving habits and smooth out. Like said above, check to see if there’s any updates your truck may be behind on. The dealership should be able to do this for you. My 2021 had clanky shifts at low speeds early on, but after some updates and breaking in it’s been smooth.

For what its worth... my 22 truck shifted so bad for the first 8000 miles... now its shift super smooth.. i did do a few adaptive relearns, but it never really made to much difference.. my 19 was about the same..

Interesting how some have issues and others don’t. I’ve read many threads on hard shifting/clunks, etc. Mine has been silky smooth from day one and no issues thus far with 2800 miles. Hope it settles down for you.

Dont bother. It's a bot, does you no good.

it takes many more miles before the transmission "settles in" to your style of driving. Especially if you are new to a vehicle of this size and nervous as heck as you get the hang of it.

My '18 2.7 10 speed shifted like cr@p just about from day 1. Sent it off to the dealer to fix twice, which accomplished nothing. On the previous model forum this seemed to be a fairly common situation, there is a TSB which my dealer performed but as I said did absolutely nothing. In the end I felt like I had no choice but to trade it back in to Ford - I felt like I could not have sold it myself or traded to another brand's dealer as whoever test drove it would never buy it. I certainly wouldn't have bought it either.

Anyway I just traded for a new 2022, which so far has been OK. I hope my luck is better this time - I had hoped to keep the '18 far longer than I did.
