Default 2022 trans problems

hello

afternoon, first time writing here. I have a 2022 f150 and I am very disappointed in the truck, I have always used f150 in my last 10 years and now that I buy a completely new one in December 2022 I feel that it has been a waste of money.

when i bought it the transmission was amazing i didn't feel any shift at all, now since 7000 miles i feel the downshifts and upshifts, the second gear is never used and i went to the dealer and they did a valv reset thing.

they said take the truck I just perfect now but it’s not, everything is exactly the same and they said to me to drive the truck 1500 miles more to transmission learn my drive.

some one with the same issue? Thanks

There have been plenty of transmission issues, they seem to be hit or miss. Mine has been smooth and flawless from day one. The relearn is a thing though, it might get better as you put miles on it after the reset. Give it a shot, you have nothing to lose.

FYI, skip shifting of 2nd and 4th are programmed in and its designed to do that. It will learn your driving habits and skip shift where "needed". I bought my truck with 6000 miles on it and the more I get to know the truck, I noticed it skipping second on light throttle input gear changes (Ive not seen it skip 4th). If I step on the pedal a bit more, it uses second. At 9500 miles, my transmission can be a little clunky here and there, but 90% of the time its great. I am not sure I fall into the same boat just yet, but a TON of people have gripes with the transmission behavior. It is something that a couple tuners have "figured out" and improved transmission behavior. Check out 5star tuning and read some reviews. If you dont want to tune the truck, you can also get yourself a cable and copy of Forscan to periodically reset the transmission adaptations. I have not done it myself, but have read that it smooths everything out for a while, then will adapt back into poor behaviors.

I feel your pain. I've owned five new Ford trucks and my 2022 is easily the worst of all. I have a drivetrain shudder that the dealer spent months trying to diagnose. Finally, Ford said it was a normal characteristic for an F-150.
There are a lot of people who own F-150s that are perfectly fine, but many of us are being encouraged to accept that quality issues are "just the way things are". Rough transmission shifts and an occasionally feeling that someone has bumped the back of your truck while you're coasting to a stop is one of those issues.

Check your fluid level. I doubt it has any thing to do with what you are mentioning, but I have 2 that work great and were both over a quart low new. And I found this myself cause the dealers don't check them. Supposedly not on the predelivery check list any more?

See if you can have someone look up your truck in FDRS to see if you have a PCM update available as well. If you do, applying it (yourself or via a dealer) should help shifting as well.

Hey there. I can look into your F-150’s concerns on my end if you’d like. Will you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership info?

^ Let's hope that goes somewhere.

Anyway, my 2020 only goes into 2nd gear if I put it in Sport Mode.

Mine never hits the 2nd unless I am driving aggressively. It is quite common with other cars as well, light driving will get gears skipped.
