Default 2022 Tranny Problems?

Has anyone has issues with their transmission at very low miles? I bought a brand new 2022 on Wednesday but by Thursday morning I was having transmission problems. The trans got stuck in 7th gear and wasn’t shifting up or down. I dropped the truck back off at the dealer less than 24 hours after I brought it home. Has anyone heard of transmission problems this quickly into ownership?

Seems to be hit or miss, but that’s disheartening to experience so early in ownership. Reading quite a bit of negative feedback with quality/reliability from Ford here lately. For the record, my trans has been silky smooth since day one with no issues over 10K miles. Hopefully dealership will sort it out so you can enjoy the new ride.

I recall reading a very similar post, maybe a year ago. I think it even stayed in the higher gear at a stop. FarmerBen is exactly right, but fortunately my experience also has been very good. Just don't get me started on the Sync infotainment system ....

Hi there! I can look into your F-150’s concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your F-150’s VIN?

The dealership is working on it, turns out they did a partial tear down of the valve body this morning and are waiting on direction from Ford. Very disheartening to hear. The truck barely had 100 miles on it before the issue popped up. I didn’t even get 12 trouble free hours out of the truck. I’m very disappointed and I don’t think I could ever trust this truck to be reliable after this experience.

That’s exactly what happened to mine, it stayed in 7th even at a stop.

Can you send me a private message? I don’t have access to send private messages yet.

Don't bother replying to him He doesn't do anything.

Do yourself a quick favor. If you still have the truck, check the ATF fluid level, especially if yours is a powerboost. Some reports indicate the ATF level was incorrectly filled at the factory.

I would see what they find before you get too disappointed. If it is in the valve body, possibly a piece of contamination (dirt) or leftover machining burr broke loose and went somewhere it shouldn't. Transmission fluid is a good cleaner so hopefully draining and refilling after fixing the problem means you are good to go.

My 2022 was quirky for several months. I lived with it until it became a full blown problem, staying stuck in 7th and hesitating in the middle of intersections. First time in the shop, the repair lasted 200 miles. It’s back in the shop now for several weeks with no diagnosis. My advice: Don’t wait. Request a buy back ASAP!
