Hey guys. Long time lurker first time poster. Just picked up a 2021 Lariat FX4 in silver with the 502a equipment package and an 3.5 ecoboost. It's my 5th f150, and coming from a 2014 platinum ecoboost this truck is light years ahead in regards to fancy buttons and power.
I love the truck but noticed yesterday the truckbed is way off compared to the cab. It doesn't line up on the driver side at all. Has anyone else experienced this before with previous models or the new 21s? I can't believe didn't notice it when I purchased it because I'm so peculiar when I buy one. The dealer I purchased from is hours away because no one around me had what I was looking for. I also know no truck is perfect from the factory but this is extremely noticeable. I'll attach pics if it will let me.
The passenger side seems to be correctlying lined up but the driver side is what's off badly. The tape is placed on the exact same body line on the cab. As you'll notice you can see the whole piece of tape from the back of the truck on the driver's side, but barely see it on the passenger side.
That's why a close inspection before signing the paperwork is essential. Your local dealers, despite you not buying from them, can perform warranty work. Wondering why you didn't have a local dealer do a dealer trade for the vehicle? My 2013 F-150 and my 2018 Fusion Energi were both acquired from dealer trades - 150 and 400 miles away.
Was trying to dealer exchange for one but they didn't want to let it go. They literally are all spoken for when they get on the lots in nc. I did a close inspection for dings and scratches and all. The body alignment issue just didn't stick out to me for some reason.
Bed alignment has been like that on many f150s. Mine included. They will have to raise the bed and take out the alignment posts to move it. Mine will stay as built and it is about like yours looks.
Passenger side seems correct. Bottom driver side is what's the most noticeable honestly.
Looks like the bed could be adjusted to split the difference evenly. Just depends if you want to take it back to the dealer for adjustment and be without it for a day.
I just wanted opinions on what it will take to make it right. Is it as simple as just unbolting the bed and lining it up? It has the factory spray in bed liner which will have to be sprayed again on the bottom I assume. Talked to a friend who works at a bodyshop and he seems to think it will require cutting the tabs they use on the assembly line to keep the bed on the frame before its bolted down and then lining it up and re bolting down with new bolts. Also showed the service writer at my local dealer and he said it did not require a call to ford because it was just a body adjustment. Does that all seem correct?
