Default 2017 vs 2022 observations.

Picked up my new 2022 from granger 2 days ago. Observations. The bad, max tow is way stiffer riding. I consider it between a superduty and a non max tow. Turning radius is noticeably larger. (What the heck happened?) I consider it about how a long bed used to be. Steering at slow speeds doesn’t return to center as well as the previous truck.

everthing else is amazing!! Seats way more comfy. Tech is amazing. Power way better. Gas mileage better already. Dash is way better. This truck delivers finally on what the 2015+ trucks were supposed to be.

I also went from a 2017 to a 2022. Both of mine were max tow, and the 2017 I got the factory LT tires. This truck is slightly less stiff, probably due to the tires. The transmission is calibrated better on the 22. I haven't noticed the turning radius. The tech is really cool on the 22 ... if it only worked like it is supposed to. I'm annoyed at the Carplay while-moving restrictions that the 17 didn't have. The seats are good, maybe as good as my 2011 was which was the best seat I've ever experienced. The 2022 is noticeably quieter, possibly related to tires again, but hopefully it stays tight. Power is noticeably better but the 2017 was fine. I probably won't notice a difference with the trailer connected.

Interesting. I’ve had a 2015 non max tow, a 2015 non max tow, and the 2022 max tow and the 2022 has by far the smoothest most plush ride out of all of them.

The difference in ride wasn’t noticed till I got home. We have a lot of high traffic concrete freeway with seams that should have been ground. You notice it mainly over that. If you don’t have those conditions it’s very possible the harsher ride will not be that noticeable to you. I wasn’t sure it was really the case after driving across all of Nebraska and Wyoming. For me it’s probably a good thing it’s got some stiffness the old truck didn’t, I tow heavy at times.

The stiffer suspension helps with towing. I've pulled my 2009 enclosed trailer all these years, first with my 2004 FX4 extended cab 6-1/2' bed and it was fine. Not too much squat and no squirming around down the highway. I test drove and bought my 2011 FX4 SCREW 5-1/2' bed and immediately noticed the smoother, quieter ride. It sagged a lot and wasn't stable pulling the trailer. I got the Roadmaster Active Suspension which took care of the problems. When I got my 2017 FX4 SCREW 5-1/2' bed, I got the max tow with LT's and did not need to do any suspension mods. It did hop around over rough roads noticeably more than the 2011. So far the 2022 seems just a touch better than the 2017 for ride. Will see after more miles pulling if it is as stable. No issues to report so far.

I hate the 'while moving' thing, so much. I understand it's for reliability reasons primarily, but does Ford/Apple not consider that you could have passengers? It's just silly.

One of the things I love most about my ‘21 Powerboost is it’s the first vehicle I have owned where my bladder is the limiting factor on a road trip over my back. If I didn't need to sleep or pee I could comfortably do 24 hours in the driver’s seat. Just an xlt, can’t even raise or lower the lumbar support.

I think you mean liability, and I agree. The stupid thing is it lets you scroll through all your albums to the point of picking one, but then it won't let you. I scroll through them to decide what I want then use the voice command to request it. Or I do it on my phone which is worse for safety. On my Camry I cut the vehicle speed sensor input to the screen and now it never knows I am moving.
