Default 2.7 to PowerBoost

Are they still making the PowerBoost? Are there issues with it that I'm not aware of? I understand inventory is really slim, but there aren't ANY powerboosts within 100 miles of me, my largest search option. The dealer said the 3.5 eco is better, but it's probably because that is all there is on his lot.

Has production been stopped?

Why should production of the Power Boost be stopped?

Nope. They are still in production as much as any other 150, but on average they do have more chips so could be affected by the shortage more.

3.5 configured the same has a slightly higher tow rating, and payload, cause well lighter. The difference is MPG, Power, and Generator capacity. Without the generator upgrade the Powerboost have the 2.4kw invertor. Upgraded one is 7.2kw, so both better than the optional 2kw on the 3.5. If you drive in the city or idle a lot the PowerBoost is a game changer. Then there is the fact that it is faster, cause well 570lb/ft or torque because of the added Electric motor.

That being said, my Dad is in the process of looking for a 3.5 equipped Truck, because he tows a fair amount and does most highway driving.

Beats me. The dealer told me they weren't making them and instead were focusing on churning out other models with limited upgrades. The dealer search on Ford.com only lets me search 100 miles, and there were zero in the area. That led me to believe the dealer might be right.

I am pretty sure they are still making them, as I have one on order. They are as rare as hens teeth on the dealers' lot. Very high demand. They got lots of great press when, last year, Texans used the Ford F150 Powerboost to power their houses during the winter blackout.

The powerboost is a 3.5 ecoboost with at additional 41HP electric motor kicker. Plus of course, also with the high voltage battery and the onboard generator that the 3.5 ecoboost doesn't get.

As an engine, the main differences are;

Ecoboost 375HP, 470ft-lbs torque, 18/24 MPG Rating
Powerboost 430HP, 570 ft-lbs torque, 25/26 MPG Rating.

Order a Powerboost. Most places are giving better deals on factory orders. Most on the lot powerboosts, if you find one, carry an MSRP add on cost. If you can get to Granger, IA to pick it up, the ford dealer there is apparently taking orders at less than MSRP.

How much more does a similarly equipped PB weigh over a regular 3.5? Isn't it like 600lbs?

If so, I don't think the additional 30hp and 70ftlbs would make it that much faster, if at all.

I'm also semi-kicking around the diesel, but I'm not sure where the break-even point would be give diesel prices and engine cost.

Personally at this point in time would order another 302a XLT 2.7 or find one on the lot. If and when PB showed up for sale in the area then ???

All auto MFG's are in the chips crisis and making changes in production to efficiently deliver vehicles to the consumer.

Building one truck that would hold up possibly (5) other sales right now, nope the bean counters will win this one each and every time.

Look at the fast selling / sold out Ford the Maverick, sales halted ?? A more profitable vehicle for Ford can be built with those same chips.

Have a PB and it's hyped up way much more than it should be.

PB has quirks just like any other vehicle.

Personal thoughts should have waited and gone ALL electric instead of the PB.
