Default 12-inch center-stack with 301A?

Random question - does anyone know if it’s possible to get the 12-inch center console screen outside of the 302A package on a XLT? I’m ordering my truck with the heavy duty payload package which prevents me from getting the 302A, so I have to stay with the 301A and the 8-inch screen.

I’m new to all of this so I wasn’t sure if anyone was aware of the screen being an upgrade-able item on its own. Dealer told me if I couldn’t configure it on Ford’s website, it couldn’t be done, but thought it was worth the ask.

I would give up a bit of payload for the 12" display! Just saying, it is a really nice display.

Payload consideration is our number one priority. And 600# is not “a bit” when comparing a standard XLT screw and a HDPP XLT screw. We are buying this truck specifically to be as capable as possible for towing our current RV and give us as much flexibility when we go to upgrade it down the road. Unfortunately, as much as I like the 12-inch screen (and I really like it), it’s not as important as the extra payload capability. Just wish there was a way to get both.

It really is ridiculous that Ford limits HDPP to 301a or below. In your shoes I would stick with the HDPP too. That extra payload is very important when you need it. The 12" screen is nice, but we all managed to survive just fine before these massive screens came along.

Within a few years I won't be surprised at all if someone comes up with a way to upgrade the 8" to 12", but it will probably be costly.

Why not get a 2022 F250 gas if you need payload and then you also get the 12" screen?

I definitely considered that option, however, couldn’t justify the 250 as my daily driver for the 12-inch screen when weighing against the 150 HDPP and their similar capabilities. The 3.5EB 1/2 ton is just a better option for our needs (15-20 weekends & 2-3 weeks camping with the RV per year, daily driver/family hauler other days).

A 250 or 350 will most likely be our next truck when we’re ready to bump up to fifth-wheel campers though!

That looks pretty slick! Thanks for the heads up. I’ll keep my eye on updates from them.

I ordered the HDPP as well and it was frustrating to see that the 302A package wasn't available with it. I'm fine living with the 8" screen. I'm currently driving a 2007 F-150 XLT so from a technology standpoint even the 8" screen and the bits in the 301A package will impress.
