I have a SCT Livewire TS. Bought it in Feb. 2013 from 5 star with custom tunes. Also have tunes from MPT. I have it on my '11 Lariat. I leave it hooked up for the gauges. Has anyone had an issue with the touchscreen not working? Not long after I got the Livewire, the screen started to freeze. I had to unplug it, then plug it back in and restart it. I tried to contact SCT, but it would take several emails to get a response. And it was usually, "Sorry for the issue. Have you updated your device?".I also started having issues with the touchscreen not responding. Same thing when I sent a message or emails. I would just get a "sorry about the problem", but no solution. At first it was a nuisance. Now, as for changing to a different tune, the Livewire is unusable. I may be able to Return to Stock. But once I do, I'll probably won't be able to put a tune back in the truck. The problems seem to occur mostly along the top around "Exit", and along the bottom right at "Continue". I would have to press at the very bottom, almost on top of "Return to stock" to get it to respond. And when I touched the screen to make a change, sometimes it would be "out of sync". For instance, when changing the speed limiter to say 115mph, it would register 110, or 105 instead of 115. Then I would have to try it again. Or when I want to change gauges, same thing, couldn't get what I wanted. Now when I try to change to a different tune, I can't get it to "Continue". It keeps taking me into "Return to Stock". So now the Livewire is unusable. I've done several searches over the past several months. But surprisingly there isn't much on the internet. Several posts on here and on other Ford websites is all I could find. For a time several years ago, SCT was replacing screens, and in a few instances replaced the device under warranty. But I can't find anything recent. And SCT's website isn't any help. It's been several months since I tried to contact SCT. That never yielded any results anyway. I'm on disability now, so buying another device is not an option for me. .
I have been having issues with a SCT Bullydog BDX, even under warranty they would not replace mine, just kep telling me they are working on a software update that "should" cure my issues (which include the display randomly shutting off and the day to night brightness mode that doesn't work). I have to leave all settings on the night mode brightness.
I still can't find any more info on this problem. Have had no luck contacting SCT. Granted, it's been several months since I last tried. Just sent another Email via the website. I went to a local computer repair store to see if they worked on devices other than computers etc.. That was a laugh... The guy asked me what I wanted repaired. I said a performance programmer for my truck, a SCT Livewire. Guy never heard of it, or even what a performance programmer was. And he was about my age - 50 something, ahem...I may have to see if I can find a newer, used Livewire TS+ maybe? Anyone have problems with the Livewire TS+? Can someone tell me what would be involved if I was able to find one? What's involved with unlocking a device?, or cost for something like that? I got the money for the Covid thing, but have bills to pay...oh well.. Thanks.
UPDATE: 06/23/20 - Good News... Checked my Emails this morning. I have a reply from SCT. Received it yesterday afternoon around 2:00 PM. It says that I can send my Livewire back to them to be repaired. They can perform the repair for $100.00 and turn around time is 7-10 business days. I need to call them so I can give them my info, device serial number and pay them for the repair. They will give me an RMA number. So today I'll return the truck to stock ( I hope) and bring the Livewire in for shipment. I'll need to check my Laptop and back-up files to make sure I still have copies of the tunes that are on the Livewire. I'll probably mail it with a Return Receipt request and insurance. I'll post updates as they occur.
UPDATE: 07/12/20 - I shipped off my Livewire to SCT by Postal service with insurance on Tuesday, June 23rd.. SCT received it on, I believe the following Tuesday the 30th.. SCT did the repair, had it ready to be shipped back via FedEx ground, and emailed me the tracking number the same day. How about that? I had a major issue with FedEx getting me the package, but that's another story. I eventually received it late on Friday, July the 10th.. Saturday afternoon I went out to the truck, hooked it up and..... The screen operates. In several spots, I have to give the screen a little more pressure for it to respond, but it seems to be working fine. So far all is good. Thank you SCT for offering to do the repair, and the quick turn around...
