Default New 5.0 and dissappointed with performance

Just picked up a leftover 17' SuperCab XL 4x4 3.55s with the 5.0. Man I told you 5.0 guys these things were slowww. I'm happy with the truck and the deal. It stickered at $40295 and i bought it for $28750. I also have a 16' 2.7 and decided to keep it due to the horrible trade in they were giving me. So coming from a guy who owns both the 5.0 and 2.7, the little ecoboost is quicker. How is a 325hp engine quicker than a 385hp engine? Makes no sense. The biggest thing I like from the ecoboost is the instant throttle response. The 5.0 pulls hard but only at high rpms.

Did you try sport mode?
I think they back the throttle response down on the 5.0..... or it would spin the **** outa the tires......
Check out the thread on the pedal commander it takes the response time out of the gas pedal..... seems to get a lot of reviews.

Makes me wonder if they did something to the newer trucks.
If i jump on mine off the light it spins the tires even with the traction control on !
I have the 3.73 gears but put bigger tires on it.

My buddy has a 5.0 and he said the pedal commander made a huge difference on his. I'm going to order one. I didn't use sport mode because on my other trucks it didn't run any faster on the sport mode down the track.

My little 2.7 sits there and spins if I floor it. This new 5.0 definitely feels like it has a pause. I even tried with traction control off and advance track off.

I have been thinking about getting one also.... but the truck usually sits in nice weather.
If its dry and sunny, its the Vette or the bikes.....
So its hard to warrant the cost........

Love your screen name...... I used to have a video of my buddies 60 some yr. old Mom saying that..... it was hilarious !

They must have changed the programming on the new trucks, because it was the polar opposite on the previous generation. the EcoBust trucks had very noticeable lag and terrible throttle response, whereas the Coyote was smooth as silk and pulled through the entire RPM range, but really screamed up top. That's why I went with the Coyote, well one of the reasons. The other being that the first gen. EcoBust engine was garbage.

P.S. the offer still stands...anytime you want to bring your 2.7 truck over here and get it passed like it's tied to a tree, come on over. My brother's 3.5 EgoBoost can't even pass me, so your 2.7 should be baby food.

Same thing with mine, I can't do a quick maneuver take off to get into traffic, I have to ease on the pedal, otherwise I am putting my self at too much risk, as the 2.7 is spinning the tires and going no where 1/2 way out.

So much for the stock 5.0 vs stock 2.7.

The 2.7 is remarkable how it moves a full size pickup. I went 14.0 stock in the quarter. I recently tuned it, put a bigger intercooler and cai. I think it will run high 12s. I'm going to run this 5.0 in March to see what it does too.

Do you have anything done to the vette? Did they start with lt-1s in 92? I had a 90' with the tune port 350. It had headers, 4.10s with nitto drag radials, exhaust, plenum ported, intake, man thing was quick. Went 12.8@ only 104 . Used to get the ls1 guys in the quarter, just barely as they were pulling hard up top and then past me.
