Almost every aftermarket tune I’ve looked “under the hood” of has been garbage. This includes some big names with big followings.

Yeah, I was trying to say this in a more subdued way. Ive not been super impressed with most tuners. I have had tunes from 4 tuners and there is one I think was probably decent.

This has largely been my experience as well. I'm not here to trash talk anyone, but it's shocking just how bad some if the big names are when you ask them to correct obvious issues found in datalogs. This is a big part of my motivation for wanting to tune my own truck even though learning how to do so will likely cost me far more than buying a single tune from a "reputable" tuner.

Thank you for the link, I have over 50 tabs open right now as I'm trying to learn how things are done with HP tuners but I missed that great resource.

If you have a question or need some help with a tune, I can be reached on this forum, the f150ecoboost forum or on the tltechpro.com website.
Thank you for the offer, I've been going through your website and I'll probably wind up buying the Tuning School Ford Ecoboost training from you very soon. I've seen some people complain about their 10R80 training being too basic so I might go with Elite Tuning's training course for that, but it's hard to find reviews for their training. As a UNOH graduate, seeing that Elite Tuning has partnered with UNOH gives them some credibility in my book, but they aren't doing the best job of advertising exactly what material their course covers and how detailed they get. The short clips that The Tuning School puts on YouTube make it very easy to understand what I should expect from their course.

Is there a certain load value or torque request value that you would consider a hard limit that I shouldn't exceed for a stock 2021+ 3.5EB? Are there any particularly weak gears where I would to ensure I have my torque limits set low enough to keep my trans in good health?

Attached is a decent guide. It’s for a Taurus SHO, but the basic principles still apply.

I have all of the Tuning School books and videos. It’s pretty good material, but I wish they got a bit more into the “why” vs just showing you what to do.

That was one of my biggest complaints when I went to school to become an automotive technician. Way too many schools and instructors just want to teach you what to do, very few wanted to take the time to make sure their students understood why they were doing things. There's a big difference between understanding why you are changing a given value, and just knowing to set it to X for the best results in most cases.

As far as “do not exceed” loads go, I’ve heard 2.0 tossed around as a max. I believe Roush tunes to 2.0 max. The trick to making power without blowing out the bottom end is to effectively extend the high loads to high rpm, as best as you can, while maximizing the stock turbos and fuel system.

My truck was set at 2.1 stock. I bumped it up to 2.3.

I think it's field 44337 under desired air mass/max load.

Take a look at the four lspi load limit tables (low, nominal, high, and max). It will always revert to the lowest torque or load limit table. There’s a torque limit vs rpm as well that could limit it.
