Default Headers

Has anybody actually tried to make a set of coyote long tube headers from a mustang work on there f150?
WHY? Cause I can find them used all day long, in any brand, cheap. Trying to find used for an f150 is near impossible.

I'm sorry. My question involves some work and isn't a direct bolt on. Where is the challenge in just bolting something on? Dang a caveman can operate a wrench!!

Give it a try and report back. Bolting on isn't really the issue it's usually a difference in frame where headers start hitting. You did not give much info regarding your truck or the headers you're wanting to try. My advice, spend a little more money on a known bolt on part and save yourself a nice headache.

Now see, that's my problem! Follow the rest of the herd blindly. That's the first thing everybody says about anything, spend the extra money. I like my money and I'm a greedy sob!! And right off the bat everybody pushes Kooks or SW. Well there are still other company's that also make long tubes for these trucks and they work just as good. But if you try and google them you wont find them. And yes these company have been around for years. They just don't bring $.
As for making a set for a mustang work, just takes a little modifing. Miss the days when people weren't afraid of a challenge. Compare the the mustang header against the f150 header, they are identical, nearly. Except they are wider. Pie cut them near the header flange so they will tilt in closer towards the engine and reweld. There's no true individuality in these things anymore.

WOW, instead of insulting members, why have you not made your own set already? Stop following "the herd blindly", take the challenge and prove YOU are beyond caveman wrenching, instead of whining.
Then you can post about your prowess instead of complaining about it's lack. KM

You should not follow the herd blindly. Do your homework, research, whatever you want to call it. If you don't find information out there then there's probably a reason. If you don't like that then be the trend setter, try it, and report back. You have to realize that this is a truck forum and not a honda forum. Most of us are at a point in life where time is worth money. At the end of the day you (we) pay for simplicity. If you don't like that then spend your weekend cutting, welding, bending pipes to make it fit. It's definitely doable.

I would agree with Ecks on the time thing. Its not worth my time to down my truck for however long to hack a set of used headers to fit into the truck and not everyone has the equipment to make the modifications needed. I am also not keen on the idea of a truck I have 60K in and putting a hacked set of headers on it especially because its my DD.

I have a modified LS exhaust manifold and Home made turbo log I got 2nd hand for my turbo LS project, and its fairly time consuming to make everything fit and I don't even have a front clip on the truck. I also had a bunch of custom made stuff on my Duramax.

CAN it be done? Absolutely with enough welding cutting and hammering.

Accepted. Do also consider easily 50% of the members here have Ecoboost engines that do not benefit or can even use a header.
There are several makers of long tube headers for your consideration in designing your own, Kooks, Stainless Works, 2MFabrication, BBK Performance. KM

Time vs Money, my LTH headers saved the time enough to warrant the money.
