Default Driveshaft Limits?

Truck is a 2014 F150 2wd Supercrew 145”.

Tried doing research on this but I couldn’t find anything. Anybody know what the power limits are on the OEM 2 piece driveshaft? Also what about speed? I think I remember seeing that a newer model F150 (can’t remember the exact year model) is known for the driveshaft having failures at 110+mph.

Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks

I can't speak for others, but mine saw 140mph+ many times on the highway and track and numerous hits on the dyno. 1 piece OEM driveshaft though. I just reread your post.

I haven’t see any speed related failures….pinion angle and wheelhop seems to be the causes…..I’ve seen north of 145 on a few of these trucks and no vibrations of concern.

Cool thanks. I just remember watching Foxcast Media where they were putting (I think it was a ‘18 model) supercharged F150 on the Dyno and was worried about the driveshaft at 120mph. However other than that I couldn’t find anything on the driveshaft weaknesses after searching around. Might still look into some kinda of driveshaft loop for extra safety though.

Driveshafts announce their issues with floor vibrations long before they (or more specifically the u-joints) let go.

As long as it’s balanced (factory balance and trueness are very good on F150’s generally) and the U-joints are good, good to go as as fast as the cats will tolerate!

Definitely recommend a driveshaft safety loop installed for peace of mind. Don't want the truck pole-vaulting at 100+mph.
