Here’s the Cliffs Notes on what happened today and in the recent past.
Dealers had to take a survey on what access they needed followed by an emission course and test. Depending on what they put in the survey they may or may not have lost access to a lot of stuff today. Mostly diesel tuners doing deletes. New tuners won’t be bricks for changing tire sizes like was posted elsewhere. Legit tuners will be able to keep on tuning like always.

Whats going to happen, (eventually) is this: When you go to buy a part that is not emission legal you will be asked to supply your VIN. If the vehicle is registered as a street driven vehicle you will not be able to buy the part. Tuning wise will be the same. Can you get around it, sure, but what are the consequences? Look at Cunningham Motorsports, very well know LS tuner in California. EPA shut them down and they are looking at HUGE fines. Is your tuner going to take a chance on 10's of thousands of dollars to tune your vehicle? probably not. Unfortunately, it is just going to keep getting worse for us. Support SEMA, they are fighting for our rights.

The EPA royally ****ed Evans Tunning as well. Fined them initially 5 million dollars. At this point they're trying to justify their existance by spending cash and going after everybody district by district.

The sad thing is they're doing the WRONG thing to justify their existence. They're going after all these small shops (or even large shops really aren't huge contributors to any pollution obviously) when they SHOULD be going after these huge livestock, chemical and farming companies that are basically destroying everything.

These little shops they keep going after aren't contributing even half of a 100th of 1 percent.

They’ve hit a lot of people hard, especially diesel shops. I have several friends that have been hit for anywhere from several hundred grand into 7 figures and a few that had to shut down conpletely. With Trump cutting the EPA budget they’re raising money through fines now...and going after people hard.

I literally just updated my BDX and loaded a custom tune like a week ago and everything worked perfectly... Not to mention I had a canned tune loaded before it and it worked fine as well after I did the initial update.

Pointless...Go to Copart.com find a salvage vehicle like the one you want and buy it for use that VIN.

I can see a future website. GetASalvageVIN.com, hell for all I know there is one already.

So are we struck with what tunes we have or are tuners still selling tunes like MPT, 5 star?

Well the way some of them (possibly many of them nowadays) work is they lock to the VIN. So if that ends up happening, you'll have a useless tuning device that won't work for the vehicle you lied about using it for lol.

As I stated above, I just updated my BDX, loaded a custom tune from 5 Star like a week ago. Everything worked just fine.
