Get rid of the throttle sensitivity thing. That's already in your tunes from 5 star.

I think you would do well with a Wagner, Mishimoto, or Full Race intercooler. Only thing that turns me off with the Full-Race unit is that it blocks the radiator and I already have cooling issues towing.

I bought my AFE used off a guy for $450. It better than stock, but I would be pissed if I dropped $1000+ on it new. It just doesnt seem super high quality and the IAT still gets pretty hot(150F or so when towing in 85F weather).

ATP seems similar to the AFE, but they supposedly use Garrett intercooler cores which are the gold standard from what I've read.

Toyed around with my OEM charge pipe for cooling comparison, not interested in airflow as that seems sufficient.
Have insulated my charge pipe with foam aluminum backed HVAC insulation sheets and got a slight 5 degree drop in average IAT2 temperatures.
Are any charge pipes made from silicone instead of aluminum, available? They would be better with heat handling and are common for race rally street/strip cars.
Until I find some silicone pipes I'll stay with the plastic OEM.
I do understand the utility of a better CAC and have one ordered. KM

A 5 degree drop just from some insulation is pretty good.
I had considered the same, good to know it helps.

5 degrees is almost a statistical variation.

Get a FMIC. That's where the gains are.

It can be, but if measured consistantly, 5 degrees is significant...especially from just insulation.
However, I've had quite a bit of experience with radiant barrier materials and temperature guns over several applications.
And, I have seen measured consistent drops. Every little bit counts, and you're talking a few dollars in material, vs upwards of a grand for a new intercooler.

The cold side pipe is sitting right behind the cooling stack as it travels up to the TB. I bet its getting hit with some nice warm air, but I be the effect is more noticable when your IAT2's are actually cold and you are not flowing much air. If you are getting up into the 100's then that air coming out of the radiator probably isnt a ton warmer.

I bet its not consistently though. The air flow in the pipe can change by an order of magnitude between cruising on a flat stretch of road at 65mph and flooring it. I would bet that the effect of the insulation is far more meaningful at low flow rates and when the temps exiting the CAC are lower.
