That's fine. It's OK that you spent a few grand extra on top of it to beat modded ecoboosts

So, after a day of test driving he says "Now I see why everybody likes the ECO, those things are quick, but the ones I see have been around a while and they all run like crap." He bought a Denali. So there you have it. An unbiased decision from a professional deciding if he wants the ECO or 5.0. Obviously since he got the Denali it wasn't based on money.
Ah! There you have it! The people I know personally who own EBs, the EB they have at work, all of which have been working flawlessly have all been debunked by Mikes brother, the unbiased professional!

Of course, until he drove an EB, they were dog slow. Now that he's driven the EB, they're quick! So now, instead of them being slow, they're unreliable! So where is this unbiased professional getting his information from? The same source that said they were slow?

So, he wound up buying a Denali? GM, isn't it? What does that say about the 5.0?

Exactly what i think i never did understand why everyone argues so much over the eco vs 5.0 or why anyone cares so much to see which is faster stock. Instead of going into this section and to see actual timeslips, races against other vehicles, info on what works and or doesn't, you mostly see eco's vs 5.0 arguing

if you are ok with the power levels of say 450rwhp and 500rwtq a tuned 3.5 gen 2 Ecoboost is great and cheap.

But you are now at the limit of stock internals and it’s just a gamble of when your motor goes boom.

With a 5.0 you have the ability of going 700rwhp on stock internals.

Simple $$$ math if you want more the 450rwhp and don’t want to worry about a rod going through your block.

A built 3.5 Ecoboost starts at $5000 and more then a few are spending 15k+ on that built motor and big turbos all for what a 5.0 can do with a whipple or a Roush blower for 6-7k

Is the gen2 really at the limit of internals with 25% more torque than stock? That seems unlikely to me. If Ford only built in 25% over tolerance, there's going to be a LOT of failed motors even bone stock.

No need to get all but hurt. He see's the ECOs that are hurt at the shop. People don't bring em to the shop when all is well. Just speculating, but tells me that maybe Ford has some software that kills a lot of torque when hurt besides normal limp home mode. Test driving new trucks was the first time he had driven an ECO that wasn't at the shop for repair. Also keep in mind that these are mostly oil field trucks where 1/2 tons are basically runabout beaters. It is what it is and I don't have a factual answer as to why. I do know he went out to buy a Ford and ended up with a GM.

Myself, If I could get the Ford truck with an ls based motor it would without a doubt my first choice. Same reasons my new bike has pushrods.

As a side note, he states that he makes a lot more money repairing GMs than Ford, and really hopes the new 10 speed is more GM influence than Ford.

I don't think anybody's maxed out the gen2 EB.

Switzer has done a turbo and intercooler swap on the Raptor and put down over 550 to the wheels in a stock-driving configuration. Not bad
Granted the pistons are different in the raptor version, but I'm fairly certain the rods and bottom end is otherwise the same.

With 4.10s that'd be a fun run for you (though still lose to your power level i'm sure)
