Default What should I do?

My 97 f150 has 150k on it and i dropped 1200 into it for a new rear about a year ago. The transmission is about to go and needs to either be replaced or rebuilt. so my question is should i rebuild or get a new tranny, or should i try to sell it (the blue book value is about 2700-the new tranny)and buy a crappy car instead. I'm just wondering if you guys agree with me that it would be cheaper in the long run to fix the truck since it runs fine except for the tranny. I know that this is a stupid question to be posting on a ford forum but im in college and dont have much money, but i do love my truck and would hate to see it go. Thanks in advance for any input.

You can get a used transmission from the junkyard fairly cheap (compared to those prices) and still have a warranty that it will work properly.
