Default Tune up time

95 F150 4x4 with a 351W. Dealership wants $500 to do a tune up. I know I can do it myself for way cheaper. But, what parts do I use? What parts do you all use. Accel? Ngk? Let me know what you all think is best for my 'Barney'.

Don't waste your money on preformance plugs, motorcraft is fine, replace the dist cap, rotor and wires. If you are a rookie leave the plug wires on the old cap and lift it out of the way, replace the rotor-you can clean out the dist with compressed air, put your new cap on and put your old wires on the new cap in the same place they were at on the old cap. Pulll 1 plug at a time and install the new plug after you verify the gap is correct, take the plug wire for that plug off the dist cap and replace it with a new one of same length. I like to keep my old plugs in the order of the cylinders so I can inspect them for any differences from the other plugs. use antisieze on the plug threads and dielectric lube on the tip that goes into spark plug boot. Replace all filters and clean or replace the pcv valve. I'm not familiar with your fuel system so someone else will need to guide you cleaning that up. Anytime you work on your truck, disconnect the battery.

That actually sounds exactly like what I do. And if I really screw up I've got a Haynes manual ready. I did end up going with 1 level up than stock on the plugs for "performance" just cause I can get them at a good price. I just can't justify paying $500 for the dealer to do it. I got plugs, wires, cap and rotor for $65. The PVC and fuel filter will come in a bit.

I'd look into this before tuning up.
