Here is the info 92 F150 Flareside with 187 K miles. For the first start of the day, when I put the truck into reverse the RPM dips, sometimes comes close to cutting off and then gets back up. I checked the transmission fluid it seems to be at a good level, the color is a darker dull orange/red. Here is a youtube link to what I'm talking about. Did you ever figure out what was wrong with this? I'm having a similar issue in my 2002 XLT 2WD.

 

I suspect that your case has nothing to do with the transmission, but rather with the IAC or something similar.
