Default engine whining

I took my truck in to get two new tires on the front and I have had a engine whine for about a month, it whines only when you accelerate. so I asked them to look at it. They said it was my power steering pump. replaced power steering pump, problem still there. took it over to autozone to return the core and the manager was like lets go look at it, he grabbed piece of card board and just reached in and stopped the fan with it easy as can be, even with the a/c on. So he said thats whats bad probably. I just want to hear what you all think before i spend $225ish on a new fan clutch.

Does it make the same noise in park and neutral ? If not , it may be the tranny. How many miles on it ?

If the fan clutch was causing the noise it would have gotten louder when he stopped the fan from turning.

Sounds more like an idler pulley bearing or tensioner bearing but it's impossible to say without putting hands and ears on.

I agree, accessories problem . Remove the drive belt and check out all of the idlers and tensioner. I bet you'll find one with a rough bearing.
