My transmission in my 03 5.4 fx4 is leaking atty the pan. Could it be just the gasket? Our am I in for an expensive repair?

Look closely above the rear of the pan. If it is oily up there you will need to repair the upper gasket probably. If the leak is at the bottom of the torque convertor you will need the converter pump seal. If it is just the pan you will need a gasket, filter, rtv cement and a drain instal kit. Check your trans to see if it is simply overful at idle warmed up.

It is coming from the front side of the pan. Not looking forward to the mechanics bill

Sounds like the gasket, also service time? Might be a tube spraying over to the case and running down?
