Ltg2000....
Post a picture of your Vehicle Certification Label located on driver's piller or door. Yours should be a 4R75W or a 4R75E (they changed the designator right in that timeframe). Basically the same trans but the 4R75E (electronic) has an additional speed sensor. Both of these transmissions are readily available. My 2007 is designated "Q" on the Vehicle Certification Label and is a 4R75E.
Question provide details as to what "completely out" means. I ask this because in some fairly rare cases it can be an external sensor causing the issue.

Ya they are telling me mine has to be from a 2005 only and no one around here has one. I love my truck and want to get it going again.
@Ltg2000 I'm not sure what the engineers or whoever made the call to make these transmissions year specific were thinking. I actually bought mine knowing that it didn't have reverse, and thinking "I'll pick up a transmission and swap it out". Too many years working on GM vehicles I guess. I was able to find (1) 2005 V6 @ Pick-n-Pull in St.Louis.
From the web:
4R70E used in: 4.6 L V8 Ford E-Series. 4.6 L V8 Ford Panther platform Cars: Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis, and Lincoln Town Car. 4.6 L V8 Ford F-150 except F-150 Heritage (sold only in Mexico)
If the above info is correct there are a lot, maybe 1/2 million out there.

@Jimboy That would be great IF either of us were working on a 4.6 L V8 Ford E-Series, but as stated in posts #17 and #19 we both have the 4.2L V6. Depending on what transmission id website you use, my truck will come back with 4R75E, 4R70E or a 4R70W. I'm assuming that your quote from the web originated from Wikipedia. Notice that there are no transmissions listed for the 2005 or 2006 4.2L V6, hell they don't even list the V6 as an option.
Hi have you had any luck finding a transmission for your f150. I also have a 05 4.2 v6 f150 2x4. My transmission went completely out last week and I have had no luck with finding a replacement transmission. My door code is A also. Thanks for any advice or help. I'm in Hannibal Missouri and can't find anything for it
