Well I ended up taking the intake off and replacing it with the factory one and loading the stock tune back on the truck and there is no more thumping sound. Obviously the truck runs really smooth and quiet now . . . I miss my aftermarket noise maker. I'm pretty bummed that this happened. It seems like so many people run intakes and tunes with no issues at all, only benefits.

Do you know if it as the CAI, or the tune causing it?

I believe it was the intake. Before I took the Roush intake off I reloaded the stock tune and the thumping sound actually got worse.

Thanks, good to know. I had a bad time with their exhaust, sounds like their CAI might be another one to stay away from.

What happened with the Roush exhaust you had?

I hated that thing! Totally over the top noise, and drone. Itried a few things to try to get it civilized, never did. I gave up, and went to Borla. I should have done that to start.
The Roush actually hurt performance and mileage as well. Total junk.
Won't deny they know Mustangs, but I think 150's not so much.

Your experience is not new, there are hundreds of dozens upon dozens of threads from people in many auto forums all over the net that wasted money on those wallet sucking mods that are useless basically. The oem intake is CAI already, has been for quite some amount of years, at least from 09 I know, maybe even further back. Engine bay eye candy is about all they are good for. Fine print marketing a product is not illegal, it's "caveat emptor" and research is key before cash exchanges hands.

Suggest you put your tune back in, leave the stock intake in place and enjoy the ride,

Man that sounds awful. This has been my first experience with Roush. I loved the intake initially, but I'm highly disappointed at this point. I'm thinking I'm just going to leave the intake factory and eventually do a catback exhaust. I've had my eye on the flowmaster outlaw for a while now, but I've been considering a Borla.

Rnl is right. I had an Airaid CAI on my 5.0, eyecandy, but I did like the sound I got. Performance/mileage, nothing.
Can I suggest Borla? Two trucks, and two Borlas I'm on. $$, but you get what you pay for with them.

Catback is another useless item except for the sound. Has no bearing on performance at all unless you were to super charge the engine. I have a Magnaflow catback on my truck, sound is subjective so it's hard to say what you might like, my system is just a tad louder than stock around town, nice low rumble but when you plant the skinny pedal a beast roars and heads turn.
