I have a 1997 f-150 extra cab with almost 285,000 miles on it a 4.6 auto no power windows ,no power locks .Today it started to to engage the starter while sitting at a redlight ,I shut it off restarted it ,pulled into the gas station and when I shut it off to look under the hood ,the AC and radio kept running ,the door chime kept ringing with the key out of the switch.several calls to the local ford dealer had me believe it was the itnigation switch ......I replaced it with a new one ....still have AC ,radio and door chiming without key ...any ideas ???? truck runs outstanding ,strong and true...but I'm afraid the battery will be dead when I come out of work .Thanks for any help..

 

If you have an after market remote start, unhook it. It can do some real strange stuff, usually a poor ground sets it off. Until you have time to search, I would pull the ground off the battery when I walked away from the truck. It's not good when the starter starts to run itself.
