Default Shifter goes side to side

Anybody know why a manual transmission shift **** would go side to side in gear. It works fine other than grinding going into gear sometimes. It just is really sloppy while in gear

Worn linkage, worn bushings, something like that. What kind of vehicle are you discussing?

That may help. I had similar with a previous ‘94 Ranger. Rebuilt and good to go. You know it’s time when the shifter just flat pulls up and out when coming to an intersection. Thankfully, I stabbed it into second and got moving from there.

A Lariat F150 with a manual trans? Interesting.
