Service Engine Soon...
Hey guys - just hit 45,000 miles on my 2002 F150XL - 4.2 litre V6 - and it now has the "service eng. soon" light glowing...
I ran the scan and have codes p1531 and p1551 (both related to O2 sensors / lean conditions...)
It has been near 0 degrees the last week - and I am wondering if I may have fried an oxy sensor...
without going to the expense of paying the dealership to put it on a real time scanner - what are the odds that the sensors are to blame?
any advice and help is appreciated -

Select auto repair, year, make ect..
TSB 05-22-6 refers to your P1131 and P1151
TSB 05-16-5 refers to codes P0171 and P0174
both TSB's refer to the same replacement of seals and bolts with seals.
There are about 5 of us members that have done the repair for the 171 & 174 code. Was not aware of the other code, pertaining to the same problem. I see one code listed in Generic and the other under Ford.

Hopefully you got into it correctly to get the info. Once in you will be given a choice of wiring diagrams, service bulletines, what ever, pull up service bulletins. If you scroll down through screen a list of topics, highlight fuel sys, driveability, filters (air & fuel). OK, now scan down and you will see 3 entries in succession pertaining to the codes listed. Hope this helps. If not, we will try to explain again. We have a member, Fast Hampster, his slogan is "the right way, the wrong way, and then there is the Russian way". He is forgetting about Fords way of doing things. Don't get me wrong, my loyalty is in order, pension starts in May.

Did you replace the IAT or the IAC? Neither one has anything to do with the code numbers you posted but a IAC would fix a rough idle.
Codes P1131 and P1151 indicate you have a problem with the wiring harness that goes to the front O2 sensors.
