Default Rust or old fluid?

When I bought the truck the dealer said this is 'normal' for orange radiator fluid. Since I knew nothing about it I took them at their word. Later research shows that Fords tend to come with Gold fluid so is this rusted or just cruddy orange radiator fluid?

I am pretty sure I need a flush but wanted to get your guys opinion.

There are many colors of radiator fluid and Ford does use orange in many vehicles. Toyota uses pink. Your rust in the reservoir is normal. The motor has cast iron parts that rust some. The rule of thumb is change your antifreeze every 2 years or 20 thousand miles depending on how and where you drive. Your owners manual will tell you Fords recommended service period. BTW You can drain and fill the system w/o a full flush.

But I want to clean that crude out. What is the best way? Install an inline filter or a pressure flush.

remove the overflow bottle and use a garden hose On that and the system. You could look into a coolant filtration system if you want

Does the filtration system put extra stress on the water pump or anything else?
