Question Plugs and plug wires

I have a 99' XLT Triton 4.6 V8 and im due for a full tune-up.
I was wondering on the wires, if there was a specific diameter that i had to get for the engine, or if i could get any size, and what the difference is?, also any recommendations on the plugs besides making sure they're motorcraft?
thanks

Most wires are in the 8.5-10mm range. Just get Motorcraft wires so you get the right lengths and platinum Motorcraft plugs.

from what ive found though, its based on ohm resistance and the internal diameter, the outer diameter is just more silicon/rubber i think (more insulation)

On an 2v OHC motor and a coil pack system there's not a great benefit to claimed "performance" wires. This isn't a 1960's points/condenser system. Plug wires have come a long way from back then. As long as you are staying naturally aspirated and the plugs are getting spark now, performance wires won't gain much if anything.

So it wouldnt make much difference if i got MSD wires or something with lower ohm resistance?

Default Getting the Best Costs:

If you must spend the bucks for high performance wires, get a set of these:

http://www.magnecor.com/

They are the best wires available, and you will pay for that quality.

Look for "ElectroSports Series" in 8mm.

Back when I had vehicles with plug wires I always used Taylors. They make for many different applications and they aren't too expensive. Never had any issues with them.
