New here and first time "truck" owner. I just bought a 2013 F-150 Lariat 5.0 V8 4x4, it did not come with an owners manual (will have to hit flea bay). I do my own oil changes, I'd like to know the best oil for these, I'm not looking to save a few bucks so whatever the best recommended (I live in HOT Florida) but I won't be off roading at all. I also like the magnetic oil plug so a recommendation as well as size for the plug. Lastly the oil filter size and where to buy. Thanks for any and all replies, I don't mind if a bunch of you chime in, in fact I like the read and different opinions. Thanks all, "Keep On Truckin'
Welcome, I use and buy from Walmart the recommended Motorcraft 5w20. Also, I buy the recommended Ford oil filter from reliable sources like online dealers, Rock AUto etc.
Yeah, the 5W-20 semi-synthetic is simply the best overall oil for these trucks, bar none. Be aware that oil threads typically explode with both anecdotal and pure b.s. reports, lol! Same for the filters, simply buy Motorcraft and be done with it. As far as the magnetic drain plug is concerned, a little bit of 'Net searching will yield you so many choices your head will swim...pick what works best for your budget and/or personal taste...but there is a school of thought that "if the OEM didn't put it on, it's not necessary". They only spent billions of dollars on R&D so, they probably know what they are doing...

Why don't you just register with ford.com and you can download your manual for free?
I just did last night, I didn't know about it. However, I always like having the oem owners manual anyway, I still prefer a book in hand vs. a printout or online , I'm Ole school that way. Whenever I sell my used vehicles I sell them like I would like to buy them, displaying both sets of keys, owners manual in its case, all service records, touchup paint and fully detailed.
