P0171 and P0174 2006 Lincoln Mark LT 5.4L
Hello,
I'm having a bit of problem with my 2006 Lincoln Mark LT 5.4L with the check engine light reading lean codes P0171 and P0174, I have done all of them following to my truck below.
-Replace Spark Plugs
-Replace Coils
-Replace Intake Manifold
-Replace Fuel Injectors
-Replace Mass Air Flow Sensor
-Replace Air Filter
-Replace Fuel Filter
-Transmission has been rebuilt
The problem I am having is that my truck jerks/hesitates during low RPM or sometimes it will stall when I put my foot down on the peddle and it makes a weird thumping noise. My miles per gallon has decreased by 4 miles as well
Any help would greatly be appreciated!
Thanks

Did you have the codes before you did all of those things? Or did they show up afterward? That's a lot of stuff, and much of it doesn't fit things you'd do for those codes.

The codes showed up after the new fuel injectors were put in but the truck was jerking still at low rpm

p.s. why did you install all of those new parts?

The reasons
-Spark plugs replaced after the transmission got rebuilt at 100,000
-Performance Coils was a Christmas gift
-Intake Manifold because a smoke test show it was coming out of there
-Fuel Filter was easy to replace

You should read around the forum about coils. They are the potential cause for many problems, although, apparently, it's often the boot that can be the real problem, not the coil itself. And people often replace good Motorcraft coils with poorer aftermarket coils. You can have misfires without setting a code. But that's probably not your 171 and 174 problem source.
And there's no such thing as a "performance" coil, not really. The ignition system maxes out spark performance itself.
Since you've already smoked it once you might as well smoke it again. 171 and 174 are vacuum leak codes, generally.

Also, put the original coils back on it if they are Motorcraft.
