Greetings group,
How many of you own a F-150 with an Amsoil (or other) remote location oil filtration system?
Years ago I had a TDI Jetta that I had an aftermarket Amsoil remote location oil filtration system. I used oil analyzers to test a pint sample of my oil at operating temps.
How do you all here feel about the amsoil remote location oil filtration system?

Interesting system. Probably works well with all oils. Doesn't seem like a good idea though to use on any of the VCT systems since they need the oil flow to operate the phasers properly. 10% is a lot of flow to divert. Maybe combine it with a high flow oil pump.

I have many customers using them with excellent results on diesels, but I don't personally have any on gas engines. Diesels have a lot more soot that makes its way into the oil so that is where they are targeted and see the most benefits. It would definitely improve the oil filtration on any engine though, so you would just need to decide if it was enough benefit to offset costs for a gas engine. As for oil flow being diverted, it would depend on which system was used. Some of our systems return the oil to the top of the valve cover (~10%), and some return it back into the flow from the pump where you wouldn't be losing any of the factory flow essentially.

While we are on the topic what is the consensus for engine oil?
Dino oil?
Synthetic blend?

The soot in diesel is very very small. Filters will not trap. High detergent oil is intended to keep the soot in solution so it comes out at drain time. Meanwhile the very fine soot does no harm. The problem is soot can deposit on cooler surfaces then possibly break off. That is when the filter becomes useful. The Amsoil filter is simply excessive.
