Mass Air Flow Sensor
Anyone replaced one of these, or has had to? I've noticed as of late my work truck doesn't have the same pick-up as late, and has even stalled a couple times stopped. I checked my alternator and it's putting out the proper power, I checked my sensor when it was running and as soon as I was checking it out it stalled completely. I don't think it's my coil packs put I'm going to check them as well. Would my best option be to replace the sensor/air filter and go from there? Anyone had similar issues?
It's throwing no codes, and it's not bad gas, it's been happen periodically for a few weeks now. Before it stalled about 3-4 times over the past year, but it was in reverse when I was easing her trailer into a tight spot. I feel like her rpm's drop when she's idling, but I can't figure out why. Her gas pedal once was really peppy, now I feel like she's lugging to even advance at a light.
Was this a typical issue for the year? I only ask because you made mention specifically of the year of my truck. I haven't checked the FPDM at all, so thank you - never occurred to me. : )
Very typical for the 04-08 trucks. The FPDM sits by the spare tire. You're from Canada so you know all too well how winter takes its toll rusting things. With the placement, it tends to corrode the cover of the module and cause water to leak into it causing random issues. It's an easy check to see if it is cracked or corroded and it's cheap to replace (around $60 here in the States).
I love when things are easy and inexpensive to replace - phew. For some reason when I read your initial comment I was slightly under the impression I'd have to drop the fuel tank to repair or replace it, which would f'ing suck.

I would also clean that MAF sensor. Buy a can of CRC Mass Air Flow sensor cleaner, pull out the sensor very carefully and spray the heck out of it, let it completely dry out, reinstall and go. There's a good write up on here somewhere about cleaning the MAF sensor. It's truly a simple, 15 minute job that does make a difference.
