Default Low and rough idle

Hello, I just two days ago changed my spark plugs as I was having Sparky plug problems, I also noticed my idle had dropped and was rough (dropped to the point when I would come to a stop at a light or stop sign I thought my truck would stall out). Now I have replaced the plugs and when I went to start my truck it acted like it wasnt getting any gas and took a few seconds to start and when it did there was a heavy smell of raw gas in the air and coming through the vents. The check engine light is not on nor any other warning lights or dings. Once started if cold start the idle is fine till it gets warmed up then drops and is rough and if Im just restarting after giving it a few minutes to "rest" there is still a hesitation to start and gas smell like I flooded the engine. My truck is a 2006 ford f150 5.4 8 cyl. I dont have any diagnostic equipment and am trying to get this done as much on my own as Im trying not to spend a ton of money I dont have (ie avoid going to mechanic if possible) or running to autozone for trial and error parts. Thank you for any help you can offer.

yes I did use the di electric grease, I was thinking maybe the coils. Is there a way to test them, I do hear a small ticking noise on the right side of the engine.

Ticking I would guess is an exhaust leak but a easy way to test them is fire up your truck and while its running rough unplug the coils one at a time when you find the one that has little to no change that's the bad one the other good ones should make the truck bog down allot

Just started up the truck and unplugged the coils one at a time during rough idle and found one that did not make a difference at all plugged or unplugged, so this may be the culprit. Now would a bad coil make my truck act like it wont start, or like its not getting any gas after being shutdown for a bit (30+ minutes) to all night?
