Loose shifter
I have a '95 F150 with a 5 speed manual. The shifter has quite a bit of play in it and I removed the boot and shifter to inspect things. The post coming out of the tranny is very solid the play seems to be in how the lever slides over the post as it can move on that post more than I would like.
I noticed in the sleeve on the bottom of the shift lever there is a small nub that fits into the key slot on the post and it appears pretty worn down and I'm wondering if the lever itself can be replaced or if I'm off track altogether.
I'd welcome any input on this situation. I have seen the bushing kits and things but am just not convinced that is my issue as, like I mentioned, the post that the shift lever mounts to feels very solid.
Ideas?
