Default Let's talk Lube

I'm new to Ford, so I don't know a lot yet. Looking for recommendations for lube to keep things going. This truck has a lot more moving parts than my Tundra.

My truck is the 2019 Platinum.

Primarily looking for recommended grease/lube for the following parts. I want to keep them well maintained so they last.
  • Big sliding sunroof
  • Automatic side steps
  • Tailgate
  • Driveline Grease Zerks (is there a list of all the locations?)
I also noticed Ford rev'd their engine oil spec to WSS-M2C946-B1 for the 3.5L Ecoboost. This corresponds to XO-5W30-Q1SP in the 1 qt package and XO-5W30-5Q3SP in the 5 qt package for those who like factory oil. It's an SN PLUS rated oil. The manual has an error calling the XO-5W30-QSP listed as a -B1 oil.

If anyone cares, Autozone has the correct factory oil on the shelf.

This site is nice for seeing what chemicals Ford has in inventory.

Just remember, everything is better with a little lube.

Ford hasn't used grease zerks for over 20 years. Everything is sealed.

Oh.. Page 565 of the manual says "Lubricate any areas with grease fittings." when talking about u-joints, driveshaft, tie rods, etc.

I also had a ranger that is less than 20 years ago and that sucker had zerks on EVERY moving part on the underside...

They may have gone back to using them, not sure but there are none on my 2013 or my wife's 2014. Best bet is to crawl under there and have a look with your own eyes. FYI the manual states items primarily with a blanket coverage mentality. Probably why it states it the way it does.

P.S. Did you buy that Ranger new? Quite possible another owner replaced parts with aftermarket, those have zerks.

I bought it used with 25k miles, it was bone stock. I hope ford makes sealed units that last longer than that! When I get it up on the lift for the first oil change I’ll do a thorough inspection. Nothing to worry about just yet, still brand new.
