Increase eco boost reliability
I have a F150 XLT Sport Super crew 6.5 ft bed with 3.5 Eco-boost that failed at 1500 kilometers -900 miles. Number 6 cylinder // piston failed. Engine is being replaced under warranty. Should I be concerned of a ripple effect as regards failures?
Any sign before the failure ?
2018. No. Vehicle was moving at highway speed when there was a loud bang and it felt like something was run over. Truck display instructed operator to place vehicle in Park and restart. Of course that was not effective as the engine had suffered a major failure.
You don't need to do anything differently than any other vehicle. Do your routine maintenance at regular intervals and you wont have an issue that wouldn't have happened anyways regardless of how you treated it. If it has a defect from the factory, nothing you do will likely prevent issue, which is true for any engine.
If you read around you'll notice that 9.9/10 times the only people saying the ecoboost is bad are V8 owners. I'm not sure if they have insecurity issues or what. Whether its the V8 or the EB, they are good engines.

I requested the 3.5 eco-boost as I was impressed by the engine performance. I am hoping that no other problems arise. Regardless, I think Ford should offer something for my inconveinence and to maitain good customer relations.
The new engine arrived today so I hope to have the unit back soon.

We have put 80K miles on the Taurus SHO since 2013 and have not had a single issue with the Gen 1 EcoBoost 3.5L motor with regular oil changes and proper maintenance. I liked it so much that I got an F150 with the Gen 2 EcoBoost.
