Fix engine and go from there.
if you let the truck run for literally a minute that cat is damn near red hot and the truck smells rich as hell and you can smell that rotten egg smell and im having problems with acceleration and hesitation when driving it
i just put a tune up on it a few months ago the motor is strong i can tell you that it was sitting for years before i got it an its been sitting the past few months it needs to be drove get the cobwebs blowin out of it but im trying to get a few problems fixed but if you want i can give you a list of everything ive done on it so far

Sure, the cat can be removed as long as there's no state inspections or the like. I cut the pipe and busted out the innerds so things at least looked in place to pass the required visual inspection, no tailpipe sniffing here to pass. Didn't solve my problem of the time, though.
Suggest the O2 sensor in front of the cat is a significant part of the engine management system, deleting it will likely present another degree of difficulty in solving the real problem. Could be that the O2 sensor is bad, but these don't fail as often as one thinks.
As the previous posters have suggested - something ain't right with the engine.
If the thing is running like crap, perhaps due to engine misfire which dumps partially burnt fuel down the exhaust as well as leaning out the remaining cylinders to where they ain't firing worth a hoot, within the limits of the computer controls.

What codes are you getting?
Note: Prices for scraping catalytic converters are much lower than they we a couple of years ago but back then you could get 200-300 dollars for each cat. If you are thinking about gutting your cats you maybe throwing away money. Contact your local recycler (not scrap yard) for prices. You need ID and proof of ownership.
