help with the death wobble
Hi guys, I need some help....I'm pretty sure this was an existing problem that was brought to light by the new 2" liftand 33"x12.5 tiresI justput on. I have a 98 f150 4x4 4.6l, I just replaced both half shafts, inner and outer tie rods, and new shocks. I have to get an alignment and wheel balance this week. Now for the problem....before the lift and tires, I noticed the steering linkage from the steering wheel to the gearbox had a lot of play but was not causing a problem so I wasn't worried about it at the time. I was wondering if this could be causing the wobble and if so is it an easy fix? Also would a steering stabilizer kit help? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
That steering column shaft could be a contributing factor. How is the rest of the steering? The steering box could have a ton of play in it too. Idler arms like to fail on these trucks as well. I would also check all ball joints, wheel bearings, and upper and lower control arm bushings.
